Yesterday we arrived in the Galápagos in preparation for the Toucanto World Schooling event, so it seems like a good idea to talk about what you can expect when travelling to Galápagos, as the check-in process has several steps. Making sure that you have everything ready before you arrive at the airport can help ensure that you have a stress-free travel experience.
72 Hours Before your flight
Some of you will be travelling in the next few days, so make sure you complete any online check-in procedures in good time; usually between 72 hours and 24 hours before you fly.
Obtain any Covid-19 PCR tests that will be required for any of your party for entry to the Galapagos. There are many places to obtain a PCR test in Guayaquil and Quito, contact details of which can be easily obtained through an internet search.
Make your transport arrangements to get to the airport and allow a margin of error in your timings for unforeseen circumstances. The airport procedures work well but the enhanced security measures are time consuming, so treat the flight to Galapagos like an international flight and allow time accordingly.
24 Hours Before your flight
Reconfirm your flight times with your airline to make sure that they have not changed.
Print your boarding passes, PCR test results etc. and keep travel documents together for easy access.
Make sure you have sufficient cash for Transit Cards, Galapagos Entry
Please remember to make sure that you have the following before you get to the airport:
1. Up-to-date travel medical insurance – You may be asked to provide this and can be denied entry to the Galapagos without it.
2. Passports
3. Address of accommodation while in Galapagos
4. Cash for Transit Cards and Entry to Galapagos $120 for each guest (if not Ecuadorean!) Bus is now $5 per person to itabaca channel
Covid-19 Precautions
Proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours of your arrival to Galápagos.
Facemasks for all your party that cover the nose and mouth.
In our next post we will talk about the check-in procedure at the airport, as this will be slightly different from other destinations you may have been to!
